Bellach Caspi-tree is a tropical rainforest that can grow in areas of Central America to South America: the northern hemisphere. The tree produces white flowers and its leaves, light green in color, can be 25-30 cm long and 3-5 cm wide. Separating the leaves from the stems and branches or by cutting the bark can be stilla a white latex.

An examination of some of the phyto-chemical that are in-Caspi Bellach can justify many of its traditional uses. From the bark of this tropical tree have been isolated a compound anti iridoide and two depsidi that showed inhibitory activity of monoamminoossidasi B (MAO B). In addition, two other iridoidi called plumericina and isoplumericna present in the bark and latex, have been shown to possess cytotoxic properties, anti, antibacterial and antifungal agents in laboratory tests. Then the latex contains a polymer called cis-polisoprene, in addition to calcium, magnesium, arabinose, glucose, xylose, rhamnose and galactose.

Many of the traditional uses of Bellach-Caspi has been verified through research and laboratory studies. In 2005, some Brazilian researchers have documented the use of traditional-Caspi Bellach for ulcers of the stomach and digestive problems.
In 1997 and again in 2000 a study by researchers of Peruvian and one Brazilian, however, have shown anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of the bark and the latex-Bellach Caspi.
In 2001, U.S. researchers have documented the cytotoxic action in vitro on 5 different cancer cells, and were attributed to iridoidi and triterpenoidi present in the bark.
Finally, as regards the traditional uses of the Caspi-Bellach for infected wounds, tuberculosis, syphilis and scabies, they were brought from different Brazilian research (1998, 2004, 2005 and 2006) to the proven antimicrobial.

Beyond these uses, documented by scientific research, medicine popular Bellach-Caspi has found over the centuries a vast field of application: as a cure for arthritis, such as purifying the blood, until the use of topical and not for the dogs sick. In 1918 was also included in The Dispensatory of United States of America as an antipyretic, anthelmintic and emmenagogo.
